I have been an active, enthusiastic and proud member of the Cambridge Green Party for nine years. I have lived in Cambridge for over 20 years and am raising a 5-year old child with my partner. I have worked in both the education and housing sectors, and have observed the inequality of opportunity rife in our city.
Here in Cambridge, the obsession with growth has left us with threatened water supplies, a stripped-back green belt, a completely broken transport system, totally unaffordable house prices and shocking inequality.
As a member of parliament, I would focus resources on reducing that disparity by campaigning passionately for sensible Green policies that work to reduce poverty, keep healthcare free, bring energy companies, railways and bus networks into public hands, making public transport the cheapest and easiest option, insulating our homes to reduce emissions and lower bills and taxing dirty profits.
We are the only party that is challenging business as usual and our support is growing, with many people telling us that they see us as the best alternative to the status-quo. We need to seize the moment and make Cambridge Green!
